Sophia Gomez, Recruiting Specialist with Manpower, is the guest speaker at the Eloy Job Club on Monday, October 1 from 9:00 am to noon in the Santa Cruz Library located at 1000 North Main Street in Eloy. Prior to working with Manpower, Gomez was employed in Human Resources with the K Mart Corporation. She started working as a part time cashier at K Mart and subsequently a variety of jobs within the company. She notes that she likes her job at Manpower because people, who have lost a job or are unemployed, can find work and she feels good about getting people employed. Working at Manpower is a 24 hour job, she says, because she goes home with a computer and cell phone. A job order can be received at 8:00 p.m. wanting people to start at 8:00 a.m. the next day.
Gomez is an Arizona native and now lives in Casa Grande, where she works at the local Job Connection Office on Trekell and Florence Boulevard. She is there daily, except on Thursdays when she is in Gila Bend training new employees for the solar plant. She currently has jobs available at Gila Bend Solar Plants and Abbott Laboratories, as well as entry level jobs at other companies. Applicants must pass a drug and background check. Criminal offenses must be seven years past. In some jobs a background check is not required for employment.
Gomez believes that “at Manpower if you are looking for a job that is made for you, we can work on it together. There are jobs that will suit both your work style and lifestyle. We get to know you and can promote you.”
These are the popular job categories at Manpower.
Those wanting to find jobs through Manpower must create an account at www.manpowerjobs.com and then upload a resume. By setting up an account, job seekers can receive job information by email. Their resume is stored and job applications can be tracked. For questions call 1.866. 271. 5145 for technical assistance on their website. The Eloy Job Club will help with resume writing, online application, and creating an account in anticipation of the October 1 meeting with Sophia Gomez. Either Chuck Harris or Socorro Luna will be at the Santa Cruz Library during the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
